Weight Loss Maths make me cringe

After doing some research, I found that, to reach my goal by January 26th (my birthday), I need a daily deficit of
975 calories, or a weekly deficit of 6825kcal.

My resting/basal metabolic rate (or calories burned a day) at the same site says I'm at 1586 at the very minimum for calories burned in one day.

So...if I eat 900kcal a day (which is my current goal, because I keep BINGING and I gained so much fucking weight...I'm back up to 132 and I want to cry...so...this is trying to not let myself binge D:) then I have a deficit of 686 a day.
So I need to burn 214 calories extra every day that I don't go to the gym.

And on days when I do go?
I burn about 2393 total. Meaning I have a deficit of 1493kcal for the day (that's the calories burned during exercise, plus the calories burned just doing daily activities).

So, if 1 pound is 3000 cals, and I go to the gym about 4 times a week, then my weekly deficit should be something like 8000kcal, right? So I should be able to lose at least a pound a week?

Only it doesn't happen that way.
Why can't weight loss be pretty and mathematically accurate?

Or why can't I at least stick to only 900 cals a day and stop shoving my face full of fat?

  1. I use a website that counts everything I eat. It helps me stay accountable. I can also use it to enter exercise. But its all very fucking confusing.

  3. ugggh, I know...it all seems so simple when you do the math but then it never works out that way. I wish I could permanently set my metabolism on "high" and just stop the madness!!

  4. That sounds pretty much accurate,

Except the fact that one pound of fat is actually 3500 calories.

    :( Sorry

    Stay strong!

  5. How do you do on low carbs? I've used a great program, the PSMF (protein sparing modified fast) to lose weight quickly. It is used by a lot of body builders to drop fat without losing too much muscle. It is basically very low carbs, low calories, and low fat. If you follow the plan you should lose 2lbs a week. I have the book in pdf format and could email it to you if you think you are interested. Google it and let me know if you are interested in more detail. I'd be happy to send you more information.

btw, that is basically what I am doing now except I've thrown in 2-3 days of water fasting per week cause I'm a cow. :/

    Hang in there!

  6. Yah, eating under 1,000 is still okay! That way your not binging and your not slowing down your metabolism= win win situation...

  7. House cleaning. Sounds crazy, I know, but you burn rediculous calories cleaning! On days you don't go to the gym, find yourself some busy-work, and you'll burn those extra calories. Every bit helps!

  8. I'm sorry to tell you, but a pounds is equal 3,500 calories. You'll still be great, though. Good luck!

  11. It sucks now, but conversely if you only added x calories a day to your diet, at least you wouldn't gain massive amounts of weight.
I'm sure you know this, but its just your leptin dropping due to your weight loss. Give it a few weeks to sort itself out and you'll start losing again, once your metabolism reboots.
    Best of luck<333
    Stay strong,

  13. I spend all day crunching weight loss numbers and am always surprised at the number that appears on the scale. It's definitely not a science. lol.

    You'll do great, though!
