SC 2009 - Challenge Question 4

Summer Challenge 2009, Question 4
(Also, please check out the new poll!)

What makes you feel like your restriction is going well? Is it when you feel hungry? Or can you still see yourself as doing well when you're not hungry at all but staying under a certain caloric amount?
Do you have to feel hungry to feel successful?

  1. For me, it goes both ways. And I think it depends entirely on my mood at any given minute. Maybe I'm a bit of a basket case.

On the one hand, when I feel hungry, I know I'm empty, when my stomach grumbles, I know my body is starving and will begin consuming its fat reserves. Emptiness = starvation = "feeling" weight loss.

On the other hand, I feel really smug when I've had nothing to eat and I'm not even hungry. There's no temptation to binge or stuff myself full of things I don't need. But then again, not feeling hungry makes me concerned that my body isn't doing what I want it to do; eat itself.

So I guess my answer is a convoluted "both". I strive to feel the hunger, and I love it when I do. But when I eat nothing and do NOT feel the hunger, I feel smug and proud. For me, they're both two sides of the same coin.

  3. I'm having this very odd emotional reaction to your poll -- I need (yes, need!) to make it clear that my max is not "900+" it's "1000." Something about that plus... It's like, "900+ a cookie!" or "900+ an entire pizza!" or "900+ everything in the kitchen!"

Yes, this is completely irrational, but I feel better now.

  4. Ahhh!
The fourth question is up and I STILL have not answered the 2nd and 3rd ones.

I'm the worst Challenge contestand ever.
    Bleh.

Rest assured that one day they will all be answered. (I say this quite sheepishly).

  6. Hmm.. probably more when I've eaten less than when I feel hungry. Though feeling hungry, and tummy rumbling is nice too.
